WORKSHOP – GRAND RAPIDS BUILDING SERVICES PRESENTATION

Superintendent Sifferman introduced the Board and administration to the principals of Grand Rapids Building Services.  GRBS then began their presentation of their proposal to the district, the history of the company, their current clientele, and their business philosophies.  They then fielded questions from the Board, administration and public.  Most concerns were in the area of possible turnover, hourly wages, and the benefit packages.  There was some concern from the public that the company would be able to hire locally at their stated starting wage ($8.50/hour).  Ms. Wysocki of GRBS noted that the company had done a variety of surveys in this area to determine the going wage for this type of position in Livingston County.  She also noted that should GRBS not be able to find acceptable applicants at this wage, it would be GRBS’s responsibility to offer a wage that worked.  The district would not be liable for the increase.  She also noted that the district could decide to elevate the contract and offer a larger starting wage and additional benefits.  Ms. Wysocki noted that their staff would be responsible for all of the same duties as the current staff. (Mr. Horning arrived during this presentation – 6:00 p.m.)

President Jankowski thanked them for their presentation.
