PTO MEETING MINUTES
September
9, 2008
Members Present:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Susan Lintzenich, PTO
President. Introductions
were made, and all were welcomed to the first PTO meeting of the
2008-2009 school year.
Minutes from the June 10, 2008
Meeting
Minutes from the June 10,
2008, meeting were provided and read.
MOTION: A motion was made,
seconded and unanimously carried to approve the minutes of the June 10,
2008, meeting as written.
Treasurer’s Report:
Mr. Keenan Simpson,
Principal, provided a brief financial status report.
He reported that during the previous school year, approximately
$20,000 had been invested in the media center (books, equipment,
materials). He reminded the
group of the allocation of monies remaining in the PTO account at the
end of the 2007 – 2008 school year (approximately $43,000) to the
principal’s fund for the purpose of establishing an account for
additional expenses and/or programs necessary post-renovations.
He stated that approximately $4,833 remained in the PTO account
to begin the new school year.
Discussion ensued regarding the need to recruit a PTO treasurer to
replace Mrs. Laura Quinn who has moved on.
Elections:
Mr. Simpson assisted in
conducting elections for new PTO officers.
It was announced that all positions were open for nominations
from the floor.
1. President:
Maggie DeLauder was nominated for PTO President.
Mrs. DeLauder accepted the nomination, following which the
opportunity for further nominations ended.
Then, formal voting was conducted.
MOTION: A motion was made,
seconded and unanimously carried to elect Maggie DeLauder as President,
Farms Intermediate School PTO for the 2008 – 2009 School year.
Then, Mr. Simpson provided kudos to Mrs. Susan Lintzenich for serving as
President of the PTO and for her service to Farms Intermediate School (FIS)
and the parents of FIS.
2. Vice President:
Holly Houtman was nominated for PTO Vice President.
Mrs. Houtman accepted the nomination, following which the
opportunity for further nominations ended.
Then, formal voting was conducted.
MOTION: A motion was made,
seconded and unanimously carried to elect Holly Houtman as Vice
President, Farms Intermediate School PTO for the 2008 – 2009 School
year.
3. Secretary:
Tina Braid was nominated for PTO President.
Mrs. Braid accepted the nomination, following which the
opportunity for further nominations ended.
Then, formal voting was conducted.
MOTION: A motion was made,
seconded and unanimously carried to elect Tina Braid as Secretary, Farms
Intermediate School PTO for the 2008 – 2009 School year.
4.
Treasurer: No formal
nominations were made for this position.
Therefore, it was determined that nominations would be tabled
pending further discussion.
MOTION: A motion was made,
seconded and unanimously carried to table election of a new Treasurer
for the Farms Intermediate School PTO for the 2008 – 2009 School year
until the October 2008 meeting.
New Business:

Discussion ensued regarding the need to
recruit volunteers to act as chairpersons for various committees and
programs. The following

It was agreed that written and/or e-mail communication would be sent to
the parents of FIS students in an attempt to recruit Volunteer Committee
Chairpersons.
Mr. Simpson reported that school renovations were completed as planned.
He stated that the first day assembly provided a mechanism to
begin school in an organized manner.
Then, Mr. Simpson announced that two new teachers were hired to
work at Farms beginning this school year:
Ms. Mihocko and Mr. Wisner.
He confirmed that the student number was 834 as of this date.
Mrs. Kiser and Mrs. Grabowski announced the Spirit Store would be opened
on September 16, 2008.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by Mrs.
DeLauder at 8:05 p.m. The
next PTO meeting date was announced as October 14, 2008, at 7:00 p.m.
